One evening of an ordinary day,
Without complaint (the penalty was just)
I stood and watched as you rode away
Trailing my heart after you in the dust.
Without complaint (the penalty was just)
I stood and watched as you rode away
Trailing my heart after you in the dust.
Looking back on that moment through the years,
The many years reaching from now to then,
I marvel, though that day was dry of tears,
How I survived to weep and laugh again.
